Hmm…this particular challenge is harder than it seems on the surface. I mean, really, I don’t think of very many people as role models. I guess because of what I do for a living (social psychologist), I am more likely to find things to admire in most people (and also things to NOT admire! %-). I’m more of a context person than a personality person. But, that just makes this a good challenge, I guess!

Okay, here goes…10 Living Role Models for Me
1. Oprah Winfrey
2. My sister, Terra
3.

Yeah, okay, now I’m drawing blanks. I can think of a lot of people who have a lot of admirable qualities or have done admirable things – but somehow labeling someone as a “role model” is hard for me. It seems like putting them on a pedestal, almost like worship. It’s just not my thing. People are people – we all have good qualities and bad qualities. Sometimes the balance is a little off, it’s true, but for the most part, there’s good to be found in everyone, if you just trouble yourself to look for it!

Okay, I should be working, but I’m still basically in vacation-mode. Plus, being totally swamped and overwhelmed inspires me to…goof off, of course! %-)

I stumbled across a website that “diagnoses” what type of girl you are (or what type of girl your wife, sister, girlfriend, mom, worst enemy, etc. is; it’s really pretty flexible). They’re trying to sell some wacky dating guide for guys. But, the quiz they have developed is pretty funny, and not too far off (at least for me):

Take the ‘What Kind of Girl Are You?’ quiz

So, I’m a Progressive Girl. (The other options are Academic Girl, Athletic Girl, Career Girl, Girl Next Door, Gourmet Girl, Granola Girl, Indie Girl, Party Girl, and Uptown Girl). Okay, so I don’t currently drive an SUV (though I do want a hybrid), and I would *never* begin a sentence with “Susan Sarandon says…”, but the rest of it is pretty on. A Progressive Girl is basically a combination of all the other types, which is a good fit for me – too scattered and easily bored to commit to any one “style”!

Okay, mindless diversion over – I really do need to get some work done now. If you take the quiz, either for yourself or someone else, post a comment here. I had fun with it, hope you do, too – just don’t take it *too* seriously!
